Doily Brooch

100_1760
I was at the Salvation Army and found these crocheted circles for $2…they are only about 2 1/4 inches in diameter.  I think the person who made them was working on a table cloth or a bedspread.  There were about 60 circles.

I had all sorts of ideas with what to do with them.

I used a tutorial I had seen all over blogland, but here is a specific post you can read about to see how the circles were folded.

I used a German glass button for the center, in a pretty coneflower blue shade.

You can find one of these in my etsy shop!

What a lucky find…they are very nice and also good that they are in white as you can choose to dye them in a different colour for a another project. My grandmother was an avid knitter and crochetier (is that the right word?) – Luckily she taught me knitting before she passed away, but I never got the chance to learn to crochet. The broach is very stylish!
