Easy Button Earrings

2013-10-22 039

2013-10-22 003

My sponsor Wholeport sent me these fabulous pearl like buttons.  I didn’t have a specific use for them yet…when I started thinking about making some earrings out of them.

2013-10-22 020

There were two sizes of them I received, each from different orders (with Wholeport I get monthly orders of craft supplies that I choose and then I add a tutorial showing how I used their product to their website).

I used jump rings to add a small and a large button to one ring and then put that ring of buttons on another jump ring with a button on either side.  I thought it wasn’t quite enough…So I added a few more buttons.

This is how I did it…

Resin Flower Pendants

 100_8562

I have always wanted to try my hand at making resin flowers…so when I teamed up with WholePort, I knew it was my chance!

mold

I got this mold…very pretty and delicate.

I learned a lot about the resin process, mainly that there are a lot of variables when working with resin.  Seems that the heat, humidity and other unknown factors affect how (or if) the resin sets up.

100_8522

Here’s some of my first products…not great and not all of them hardened all the way, but some were useable.

100_8575

But as I played with the resin more, things started turning out better!

100_8573

I got 5 different molds from WholePort and used them all.

100_8562

Another thing I did was when I had a dab of leftover resin I would just put it in a 30 ml medicine cup.  When the resin hardened, I cut the cup and pulled out the resin circle.  I got to thinking (ever had that happen?) about how that would make a good base for the flowers to make pendants.

100_8563

So I got out my E6000 (also from WholePort) and glued contrasting flowers onto the resin circles!  And I loved the way it looked….

100_8565

I glued bails to the backs of those circles and I had me some pendants.

100_8566

I am just loving how they turned out.

Very cute!

Another beautiful braided leather bracelet

100_8027

You may remember this braided leather bracelet I made.  When I got the cording for that one I also received some narrower leather cording from the same company.  I love bracelets…you can never have too many!!

100_8030

The cording is really easy to cut and glue the ends of the cording into the silver end caps. I added a few beads I already had to the grey strand.

100_8036

There is one strand turquoise, one grey, and one a metallic teal color.  The color combination is really wonderful!   There are so many colors available in this fine leather cording, you can’t even imagine!

Braided Leather Bracelet

100_7789

Isn’t this bracelet pretty??

IMG_8438

I found this great site online for all sorts of braided leather laces.  They have every single color I could imagine!  I used blue and turquoise to make this beautiful bracelet.

IMG_8437

I used 4mm cords for this bracelet and bought all my supplies from the same site.  The findings are sterling silver and the leather cord quality is superb!

I love the murano beads that slip onto the leather cording.  I love all shades of blues and turquoise so this was an easy decision. The beads are just beautiful!

IMG_8451

Everything arrived ready to use in labeled bags, the end caps were easy to apply to the leather pieces and it just was so easy to make. I found this store online by a search for leather cording and finishing supplies and shipping was prompt.

IMG_8401

I finished this bracelet today, tomorrow I am going to make another bracelet.  That one will be made from thinner 2.5 mm braided leather cords and the colors are grey and turquoise.
