What I’ve Been up to Lately

I’m telling you this is exciting stuff! I cleaned out the medicine cabinet and the shelves with toiletries, organizing and getting rid of outdated/unused supplies.  That was part of my 40 bags in 40 days attempt.  I accomplished about 34 bags…so that helps!

Had some great sky candy on my way home from Jefferson City this past week!

My son found out that the Easter Bunny still comes when you are 19, he wasn’t sure.

Easter morning the sun was wonderful…it started out kind of foggy and cloudy, but turned out to be a beautiful day.

Milo just loves to bask in the sun…

And it seems that baby kitty does too!  He was stretched out on this metal glider on the deck sleeping for hours.

I had a small surge of sewing that occurred this week.  I have another fun item cut out ready to put together, but for now I have to show off this dog collar for a dog friend and two infinity scarves for which I have a tutorial here.

I got three more finished quilts back from my Aunt Marge so I need to bind them, let’s see, that makes 6 in the stack to bind.  I even have the binding cut, I just need to sew the strips together and apply to the quilt.  Just a matter of getting it done!

Random Ramblings

I went to Hobby Lobby this evening to pick up some fabric for some binding for a quilt…I found this burlap chevron and striped printed ribbon…

And these burlap flowers…

And they had printed burlap by the yard, some with Paris theme prints.  All so cute, one was a coffee print!  I could think of so much to do with them, but I am trying to do some stash busting!  I took a big stack of dog blankets I sewed up for the Humane Society dogs to their office today.  That left a small space on my closet shelf and I figure it helps out a dog or cat or two as well!

Love this wall hanging at HL as well.

And these crazy Dr. Seuss-ish flowers.  Just fuzz balls on a stem!

The sunset last evening was so beautiful!

I sewed all day Monday…also worked a bit on organizing my craft room.  I got the ribbon organizers for Christmas and hung one on the wall and placed one on the shelf beside my sewing table.

Milo sat and watched me while I sewed…he wanted me to play with him!

Speaking of Milo, he has a new girlfriend…she just moved in across the street and they are innnnn love!

They run around and wear each other out, they are both puppies so they are both clumsy and so fun to watch!

They truly have tons of energy!

I updated some of my etsy listings for the Mizzou badge reels.  That was long overdue!

Working on making over this little table for my office…it turned out really cute!

Did a bunch of sewing…made this pouch for diapers/wipes for my niece…you can read more about that here.

And I made a protective padded case for my new laptop! 

And I also bound two quilts that had been waiting for me for months!  That’s about it…hope you are having a great week!

12 Random Things About Me!

I blog for a variety of reasons, a big chunk of that is to “show off” my DIY/crafting/creativity projects. But another thing I want to do more of is to show my readers a bit more about me.   If this is boring, just move on to one of those other posts, otherwise here’s a few things about me!

1.  I worry more than I should.  Sometimes you just have to completely let go of all that worry and insecurity!

2.  I believe that every man/woman should have the right to make decisions about their own body.

3.  I have a love/hate relationship with this time of year...I love the music, the reason for the season, the decorating, the making gifts, the watching folks open gifts.  I hate how sometimes I get "down" during this time, sometimes my expectations are too high, sometimes I take on too much this time of year (practice saying "no, no, no" with me if you have a similar problem), and then when it's over I find myself standing in the middle of the mess all alone trying to figure out why it's over so fast. 

4.  I learned a lot about myself this year...don't want to bore you with all the details, but I am proud of what I have done. :)

5.  Internet dating sucks. Period.  Nothing else to say…

6.  Being alone sucks.  I am pretty sure God intended us to be with a partner...just can't seem to find mine.  

7.  I hope I never have to make the decision to put a dog to sleep again...done that twice this last 6 months. Not fun.  

8.  I have a good job for which I am thankful.  I love it about 90% of the time (used to be about 35% of the time, so this is an improvement!  Never under estimate advise from a knowledgeable professional!).

9.  I have learned that if something doesn't work for me, I should walk away from it. Process it, deal with it and don't go back there! The hard part is deciding if the current situation is worth fighting for or if you need to walk away. I learned not to settle for less than I want or deserve.  I have faith that God has a plan for me and I know I don’t necessarily need to know the plan (but if He could just give me a hint…maybe?)

10. I have lost 50# the past 4-5 months. Yay!

11. I love all my nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and brothers and sisters and my mama!  And my grandparents too...I am blessed to have my dad's parents still with us.

12.  I need to go finish all my gifts that I am making this year! (Update, most of the Christmas sewing is done!)  Wrapping gifts is my favorite part of the gifting part, except for watching everyone open their gifts!)!

Maybe I should add a 13th…I love to photograph sunrises, sunsets and the ocean!
