Simple Infinity Scarf

IMG_7348

I got a wild hair to make a few infinity scarves yesterday…I stopped at Wal-Mart on my way home and bought a few really cheap pieces of fabric.  I mostly have cotton at home in my stash so I thought it would be best to buy some fabric specifically for this project.

These were the two that I made last night.  I chose thin gauzy type fabrics and actually the fabric lady at Wal-Mart was very helpful.  We started talking and she is an environmental engineer who just happens to work at Wal-Mart.  She told me she used to work as an engineer but now she prefers to have a less stressful job.  So, anyway, I digress!

I went over to the scarf section to get an idea of size and ended up just taking a scarf that fit like I wanted over to the cutting table.  I only wanted one seam in mine so I bought 2 1/3 yards of the fabric (you can get two scarves from that yardage).  The most I paid for one scarf was $4.

I cut a piece of the fabric 20 by 84 inches.  I have a serger so I serged the short sides together in a rolled edge seam…you could also sew a regular seam on a regular machine too.

Then I did the same type of rolled edge on the sides to finish the edges.

That’s all there is to it, just turn it right side out and wear it!  Seriously took me just 10 min to make each one from start to finish.   I wore it to work today and got lots of compliments.

This is Mizzou country so the black and gold was perfect!

Very cute. The infinity scarves I've made have all been from recycled t-shirts. I love the plaid fabric you bought for yours.
