What do you do with that leftover wool yarn??

You make felted wool flowers of course!!

I have been making baby shower gifts (tell you more about that later) and had a scrumptious piece of this felting yarn left over.  I played around with it a bit and decided I should crochet it into a edging for some thing, not sure what, but hate to just toss it!

I then felted it in the washer with the shower gifts I made and it came out ready to swirl and sew into this flower!  I think it looks rose-ish.

Here is the pattern if you are interested in trying this out yourself.

Crochet a chain…make it as long as you want, since you re going to felt it it can be any length.   Use any size crochet hook, I used an H and I used Bernat Felting Wool Yarn.  I love that stuff!

Single crochet in the third chain from your hook, chain 3,  *skip one chain and triple crochet in the next chain, chain 3, skip one chain and single crochet in the next chain. Chain 3 and repeat from the *.

You can make it as long or short as you want.  After felting my project was about 36 inches long.   It was really quite easy!

That is so awesome. I think even I could do that! It would make a lovely brooch wouldn't it!

Ellen, your felted wool flowers are beautiful and are all the more special and artful because of the way they are crocheted before being rolled into flowers.

Thank you for being a part of "A Little Birdie Told Me..."!
