Vintage 1940s Scrappy Quilt

OK, right off the start I will admit that I did not make the top of this quilt…actually neither did I quilt it!  So, anyway, now that we have that out of the way, isn’t this a beautiful quilt?

My excellent memory makes it hard for me to remember where I found this quilt top, but I think it came from a friend/coworker whose mom sold me a bunch of fabric (including three finished quilt tops), notions, various household goods (I am talking a whole back seat full of stuff including gallon size containers of dish soap for 50 cents each!) for $20!

Anyway, my Aunt Marge quilted it and I usually just give her free reign to choose the quilting pattern. I don’t think I could have made a more perfect choice!  I love how the center patchwork is more pastel colors and the outside border is more primary colors.  I imagine that the border was made after the center of the quilt.

Gorgeous! I just love this quilt. Looks just like what my grandmothers would make.
