How to remove spray paint from your hands~~the easy way!

You’re probably thinking I’m crazy for a post with this title. Maybe I am, but I have been taking spray paint off my hands this way for years…before this I used a paint remover or nail polish (which was very irritating to my hands).  If I had cuts or a torn cuticle it was painful too.  And as a nurse, my hands were always stressed anyway since I washed them so much.

So, I am a big spray painter (love this color BTW, Krylon’s Satin Caramel Latte) and when I painted these metal acorns for the bottle project, I decided to share my paint removal tip. I always forget the gloves and I am known to be a messy crafter, so I am always getting spray paint all over me.

All you need is a heavy lotion or cream and a few paper towels or a clean rag.  This Bath and Body Works hand cream is perfect, but almost any kind will work…baby lotion works great too. 

Put a generous glob of lotion in your palm, admire how much paint you have around your nails.  Rub the lotion in all over your hands, leave it on for a minute or two, then wipe it off with the paper towel.

Now, this is what you have after one application…now just lather, rinse and repeat apply another generous squirt of lotion and rub it in, let it sit and wipe it off!

You can see the paint on the paper towel…it’s coming off!

This is what my hand looked like after the second lotion application.

I applied one more glob of lotion and repeated the process.

Ta da!!  That’s all there is to it!  Easy, non-harsh chemical paint removal.  All that’s left is a tad around a few nails, but that came right off with a brush.  Now if only I could find a way to remove those wrinkles and age spots!
