I am always looking for cheap different and creative ways to plant my deck containers. I live in the country and usually have no problems with wild life eating my deck container arrangements. This year has been a little different as I have deer, possums and raccoons coming to the deck, I think to drink from my water fountains, very dry year, and we are so far behind on rain.
I dug most of these plants up out of the edge of my yard where I dump carefully plant the summer containers so that the perennials will be there for me next year.
This is how this arrangement started out. Yup, just stacked pots, each one is leaning on the inside back of the pot underneath it. I bought all five pots (never used, brand new) in a pile at an auction for $2! I had been seeing a lot of painting clay pots projects on Pinterest and thought I would give it a try. Well, mine were different than I imagined, but I thought they would look good stacked up.
Here’s an early picture, the pots still show a great deal. I used leftover spray paints to color them.
And here it is today…it’s hard to even see the pots now!
I am linking to these great parties!

That turned out great and what a great find!
What a great arrangement! Great buy on the pots and it filled out so nicely! It is hot here too....very hot but I try and get out early every morning to water and then every other day to try and work outside until I can't take it anymore! LOL! I am so fortunate to have ac. I can't imagine living here without it but some still do.
I love this idea! I'm definitely going to try this sometime. I've planted all my pots for summer but maybe I'll try something similar for Autumn :) Thanks for sharing, Maggie xx
I love how the pots look stacked!
Came over from Creative Princess to see plants that are actually alive! Love this idea of stacked plants! Unfortunately my plants have all fainted - hope to revive them tomorrow!

I never would have thought of something like this, what a great idea! The flowers look really lovely like this :) Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely gorgeous!
I like how this came out. The pots are pretty just on their own too with those lovely colors!

We are doing up our backyard at the moment. I have a herb garden in my dad's old wheel barrow. I love your ideas. They have inspired me to throw some more colour out there :)
This is such a cute idea! I love the way the plants really filled out over the stacked pots. I can see planting strawberries like this and having them cascade around the pots. Hopping over from the Nifty Thrifty party.
Love this idea... how you didn't show us the beginning without showing the fully blooming stack! Beautiful and congratulations on a great job! Kathi
this is gorgeous!!!
What a great arrangement of plants! You know I never thought to simply stack pots like this - what a wonderful idea!
Thanks for linking to a Round Tuit!

Nice idea! I have a bunch of those that have been stacked up behind my Florida room for literally years. If only I had put plants in them while they were stacked, I'd have been stylish rather than just junky. Well, now maybe I'll just do that!
