Stacked Wool Christmas Trees

This is a revisited post (here is my original last from last year).

I have a giant bin (if I said bins, that would seem like I am addicted to the stuff!) full of wool scraps just waiting to be made into this sort of project!  I made some of these last year, but have noticed that I sold several of them on etsy and in my craft show last weekend. 

I just love how they look and I especially like that they are made from old wool sweaters.

They look rather Dr. Seuss-ish to me.

I made these a bit different this time, making them free hand without a pattern, but now I am not sure I like them as much as cutting out exactly measured circles...

although this one sure turned out well!

I am still pretty partial to the multicolored one, with all colors, not just shades of green.

And for the some reason, the short stubby one is really cute too!

Wool Sweater to Winter Snowflake Pillow

I found this beautiful lambswool sweater at Goodwill.  I loved the snowflake pattern so much I saved this sweater for something special. 

It was a men's XL size, so there was a lot of it to work with. 

After I felted the sweater I cut an 18" square from the front and back of the sweater, I sewed the edges together with off white wool yarn on three sides. 

I felted it again to shrink it down a bit more, now it is a 16" pillow.  I love the square clam shell buttons and thought they looked great along the open edge.

Can't decide if I am going to make this a Christmas present or if I want to keep it for myself.

I have another special sweater that is large squares of tan, brown, and cream that I thought I might make into a pillow too!  That can be a craft for another day though...this time change has got me wanting to go to be waaayyy too early!

My Craft Show with Laura

This is my new friend Laura from the blog Along for the ride.  A month or so ago Laura asked me if I wanted to set up at a craft show with her in Columbia.  I jumped at the chance and have been crafting like crazy ever since. 

Well, today was the day!

We had a bit of everything...the felted acorns were not a hit here at all.  I was surprised because I think they are really cool!

Wool things (of course) and I was so pleased that many people knew that they were wool...seems like there is really an increased interest in wool things.  One lady said "Now I know why I can't find a wool sweater at Goodwill!" when I told her what I used to make my wool things from. Hmmm, not sure what she is talking bout!  :)

I made these zip bags from felted wool sweaters and they were really popular!  I believe I sold all five of them.

We pinned the buntings on the front of the tables and they looked great. 

I sold a few small pumpkins, one was going to be used for a pincushion which I thought was a great idea.

Laura's pins were really sweet.  She does a great job making them.  And I love the vintage buttons in the center.

We traded a few things at the end and I picked up some of the hair clips for my nieces.

And I might have swapped for one of these for another niece too!

These gift card holders were really cool...

I had a lot of fun watching the booth next to ours. They had really interesting decorated hula hoops and it was funny to see people trying them out in the aisle. 

Of course I didn't sell out (I did have a dream that I sold out, just wishful thinking!), so this is the back seat of my car on the way home. I should have taken "on the way there" pictures because they were really much neater. On the way back home Sam and I just stuffed it in there!

This was a great learning experience and I had a great time getting to know Laura.  She is really kind and sweet and just fun to be around.  I got sort of stressed out during the set up, because I had so much stuff and it just took me a while to get it organized.  Laura was a calming influence, she just kept organizing and straightening and suddenly we were done

Hoo Are You??

1. What is the most physically painful thing that has ever happened to you?  I had back problems last year and a bundle of nerves was pinched coming out of my spine causing my leg to burn and hurt...it lasted for four months before it could be fixed...that was bad!


2. What would you name your next child or if you don't have any your first child?  Well, I am out of that business, but I would have named my son (if he were a girl) Grace Agnes.


3. If you could add one feature to your car, what would you choose?  It would be nice to have OnStar for those highway emergencies!


4. If you named your house (or car or computer) what would you name it?  I always used to name my cars...I had a jeep CJ7 named Jeremiah,  not sure what my house's name would be, but my car's name is Bertha!

5. What is your dream occupation?  Having my own business, like a craft/decorating store...and being able to support myself with the income from only that business!

Mini Ornament Wreaths from Wool Scraps

What do you do with tons of scraps of felted wool sweaters?  (And I do mean tons!)

You make really cute mini wreaths for Christmas ornaments, some of them I organized colors, I love this blue and green one!

And this one that matches my snowflake wreaths!  I had lots of blue and white scraps...

My favorites were the multicolored ornaments. I thought they looked real patchworky!

But I also loved the green and red wreaths...very Christmasy!

And I made one all pinks and blues and white for baby's first Christmas.

Do you know how hard it is to take a picture of a fuzzy item and make it look crisp and sharp?

One more project done for my craft show next Sunday...that is only six days away now!
