Painting Glass Jars

I decided to jump on the painted glass bandwagon…I liked the colors that could be used with the Mod Podge technique, but I wanted something that withstood water exposure. 

I scouted around on pinterest and found a few ideas…one here and one here.  I chose to go with this one where the jars are baked after applying the paint. I used Vitrea glass paint and got it here.  I used turquoise. 

I used all disposable painting supplies so I didn’t have to worry about getting the paint off everything…that cup is a Jello container and of course plastic spoons to stir with and sponge brushes.

I mixed the paint with the dilutent, it only took a few drops of the paint for 2 tsp of the dilutent.

I painted basically every jar that I had that was clear glass… Now I do want to state that it is much harder to get the paint streak free than any of these tutorials I used for directions.  Basically it was impossible, like it wasn’t happening that the jars were streak free. So, what I am trying to say is my jars aren’t perfect!

Now I let them dry for 2 days.  Yep, they still have streaks.  So I pretended they didn’t have streaks and I cooked them in the oven. 

I love the finished products…

I even used the glass paint on the glass knob on the washi tape jar in the back. 

The color matches the vintage Ball jars you can see in the back on both sides. 

I have some on my craft chest, holding washi tape and sea shells and thread and glitter vials.
