I have had this lamp for years…it was off white when I bought it, then pink, then black and now a turquoise blue!
I painted it gloss black a few years ago when I first went through my “paint everything glossy black” phase.
I used acrylic enamels (a mix of two colors—a blue and a jade color), mixed them on my paper plate palette and painted that lamp right up!
I put on several coats and it looked great…until
I got it inside and then it seemed too bright…
Don’t get me wrong, I have this shade of turquoise in small ways all through my living room, but this just seemed like too much.
So back to the drawing board…I mean the deck!
I used Martha’s metallic glaze in black coffee (I don’t even like coffee) to change the look a bit.
That stuff is very easy to use…I have used it on several pieces of furniture and like the color and metallic sheen a lot.
And you can use as much or as little as you want…
I used a medium amount…and rubbed the extra off with a paper towel.
The finial when it was done….it is still wet even!
Now I am liking it much better!
This was the perfect piece to use the glaze on, there are a lot of nooks and crannies in this lamp.
Now it is perfect!!
