A busy spring day

I think it is really finally spring...the trees are starting to green up and I headed outside to start some gardening.
This yellow iris in my water garden has been blooming non stop for about two weeks now. I haven't done a thing with it yet, but apparently it is happy to bloom with wild abandon.
The frogs are everywhere
You can see that same frog in this picture...
My feline inspector is making sure the fish are behaving...

He is a good at his job, you can see that the fish are behaving well.
I really love my water garden...and Diet Coke too!

There is nothing more relaxing than the sounds of the water...

I repotted all my house plants today. Rachel stayed outside with me most of the day. She has been distant since we left her in someone else's care while we were home for my dad's funeral. We have been extra special nice to her, lots of treats and playing, but she is not happy and she wants us to know it!

Can you tell cobalt blue is my favorite color?
Here's the finished product. I had two plants that I divided into a zillion pots each and
will donate them to my church's yard sale.

I got this tall cobalt blue pot from Hobby Lobby (if you look closely you can still see the tag). It was only $20 at half off. I thought it was pretty striking and my palms look really good there.
These are the baby moonflower vines--they have the heart shaped leaves and hopefully they grow up to have gigantic white evening blooms that smell heavenly. I almost always have a giant moonflower vine somewhere in the yard.
Cleaning up the deck after all that repotting took a while, but it looked so spring/summer like it was well worth it.
I have rugs drying on the rail there...and that wooden handled basket thing on the rail ledge I got at a thrift shop in Columbia for $10. I love it and will probably plant some creeping jenny in it and let it go wild!
I had a giant bamboo grove that died off last fall...usually the leaves stay green all winter, but this past year they all turned brown. So I cut them down and trimmed off the branches and plan to use them for plant stakes or pot decorations. I was also thinking that I might use them to make a trellis of sorts for my moonflower vine. I just haven't decided how I want to construct that yet, so that project is pending. There are such interesting shapes in the trunks (or is it stems?) I can't wait to do something with them.
Whew, I am tired, just think I will sit here for a while....

Free Business Cards from Moo.com and etsy

I was reading one of my favorite blogs a pretty cool life and found a post about making a business card holder which I have yet to try, but plan to do so soon... Any way Cheryl was making a card holder for the free business cards she got from Moo.com and Etsy.

You can use your own logo or up to 50 pictures...the same picture must go on the front with your name and info, but the back can have lots of different arrangements!

I used some of my projects, my cat Frosty and some random photos I had...the cards are really nice, a thick card stock and look really quality. The free ones have Moo.com and etsy advertising on the front with an offer for 10% off your first order at Moo.com. I am really pleased with mine, they just came in the mail today.

Aren't they cool?

Wild Daisy Quilt

OK, this is not my usual color quilt, but I found the fabrics on sale for $3 a yard...and they were nice quality fabric, so I couldn't pass them by... My aunt Marge quilted it for me in a really cool daisy design.
I did some back art...just two strips of the front pieces down the back, two different widths and set off center too!
Backed with a polka dotted green it certainly is bright. Hopefully it won't keep me awake at night.
It's good to get out of one's comfort zone every once in a while, huh?

Some of my favorite flowers...

I love spring...I love spring flowers....Ajuga Peach colored Narcissus

This is a vintage narcissus that my great grandmother had at her house where my Dad grew up...

I don't know what you call these, but they are abundant just in my yard this time of year...delicate and pretty.

Dogwood of course...

I have sort of an unkempt woodsy yard.

And these wild violets...especially the white ones with the violet shading inside them.

And the lilac bush that I moved from my old house to my new house 10 years ago.

They smell sooooo good this year.

I even love Dandelions because my son used to bring me handfuls of them, without stems...I would have to float them in a shallow bowl because they were totally stemless! And I loved getting those squished handfuls!

And this is the kitty cat flower, AKA Mama Kitty....she loves spring as much as I do...you can see violets under her front feet here. It never seems to bother her when she stands on them, even while I am trying to photograph the flowers!

Audrey and her Baby Cocoon

This is my niece Audrey...she is one week old today. She had just eaten so she was happy.
I have been waiting for her to be born so I could show off one of my knitted projects...

I bought the pattern on this etsy site. I just accidentally ran across the seller 4aSong and loved this baby cocoon.

I really made the cocoon for my other niece Jess (this is her photography site) to use for her baby shoots.

Since I had the opportunity to use the cocoon before I mailed it to Jess and I had an excellent model, I took advantage of the situation.

Have you ever seen such a beautiful baby?

And the knitting isn't bad either!
